The Money Handbook
Last updated 15 September 2026
The short version: I collect your email address, I use it to send you the checklist and emails about UK personal finance, and I do nothing else with it. It is never sold and never passed to anyone else for their own marketing. You can leave whenever you like and I delete you.
The data controller is AJ Brown, trading as The Money Handbook.
If you have any question about your data, or you want to exercise any of the rights below, email hello@themoneyhandbook.co.uk and a real person will answer.
I do not collect your name, your address, your income, or anything about your finances. Nothing you read on this site asks for any of it, and you should be wary of anything that does.
Your consent. You ticked a box saying you wanted these emails, and that tick is the lawful basis under UK GDPR. It is also the only basis I rely on for marketing.
You can withdraw that consent at any time, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it: click unsubscribe at the bottom of any email. It takes effect immediately, you do not have to explain yourself, and nobody will email you to ask why.
My email service, MailerLite, which stores the list and sends the emails on my behalf. They are a data processor: they act on my instructions and they do not use your address for their own purposes.
That is the entire list. No advertisers, no data brokers, no partners, no "trusted third parties". Your email address is not a product I sell.
Where my email service stores or processes data outside the UK, it does so under the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
For as long as you want the emails. If you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the active list.
If you have not clicked anything in about a year, I will email you to ask whether you still want to be here, and if you do not respond I will remove you. There is no sense in me holding an address nobody wants emails at.
A minimal record of your consent and your unsubscribe is kept afterwards, because I have to be able to show that I had permission and that I honoured your request to stop.
Under UK GDPR you can ask me to:
Email hello@themoneyhandbook.co.uk and I will do it. There is no charge and I do not need a reason.
This sign-up page sets no cookies and runs no advertising or analytics trackers.
The checklist itself saves your ticked steps in your own browser's local storage, so you can come back to it later. That data never leaves your device, I cannot see it, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Links in my emails are tracked so I can see which ones were clicked, as described above.
Tell me first, at hello@themoneyhandbook.co.uk, and I will try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You do not have to come to me first.
The Money Handbook is educational content about how the UK money system works. It is not financial advice, nothing in it is a personal recommendation, and it does not know your situation. For advice on yours, speak to an FCA authorised adviser.
If this policy changes in any way that affects how your data is used, I will tell you by email rather than quietly updating this page and hoping you do not notice.
